Define Thickness and Weight Before Comparing Quotes
Pilevanta Carpet Tiles helps flooring importers, distributors, contractors and private label buyers review thickness and pile weight requirements for commercial and residential carpet tiles. We assess requests against available series, the proposed construction and production feasibility.
Send your target specification or a physical reference sample. Identify which measurements are mandatory and which can be discussed. A request for a “thicker” or “heavier” tile needs clarification before it can become a reliable quotation or an approved bulk order specification.
Separate Overall Thickness, Pile Height and Pile Weight
Overall thickness describes the finished tile, including its surface and backing construction. Pile height concerns the yarn surface, while pile weight describes the pile yarn mass per unit area. Total product weight includes backing and other components and must be listed separately.
State units clearly, especially when comparing specifications expressed in g/m² and oz/yd². Ask whether quoted yarn weight refers to a particular manufacturing stage or finished specification. Figures should only be compared when their definitions and measurement basis match.
Review Changes Against the Complete Construction
A change in overall thickness may involve the pile, backing or both. Increasing backing thickness does not establish a higher pile weight, and a heavier tile does not automatically demonstrate better surface performance.
We review the requested figures alongside pile construction, yarn requirements and tile dimensions. If the backing also changes, the proposed backing option needs separate confirmation. Available combinations depend on the selected series; arbitrary thickness and weight combinations cannot be assumed feasible.
Agree How Samples Will Be Evaluated
Provide any required measurement method, conditioning requirements and acceptance tolerances before sample preparation. Flexible pile can compress during measurement, so results need a consistent procedure rather than an informal ruler comparison.
During sample development, record overall thickness, pile height, declared pile weight and total product weight separately. Confirm which values are supported by product records and which require testing. Retain the approved sample with its specification version so appearance and numerical requirements have a common reference.
Set Bulk Inspection and Documentation Requirements
Before production, agree the inspection scope, measurement basis and handling of results outside approved limits. Checks should also consider surface consistency, backing condition and variation across the inspected samples.
We coordinate these requirements with the responsible production facility. A visual inspection or whole-tile weighing cannot independently establish pile yarn weight. Where verification requires a specific test, agree the method and reporting arrangements in advance. Changes to construction also require review of any existing performance documentation.
Confirm Cost, MOQ and Packing Implications
Quotation depends on the complete material specification, quantity per colorway and whether the request uses an existing construction or needs a development run. Sample revisions and material preparation can affect MOQ and the proposed production window.
Once specifications are approved, confirm tiles per carton, carton coverage, gross weight and pallet arrangements. A change in thickness or product weight may require revised packing quantities and freight calculations.
What We Need for a Quote
Send your reference style, intended use, tile size, fiber, pile construction, backing, target thickness and pile weight. Include units, measurement requirements, quantity per colorway, branding, packaging, destination, shipping term and target delivery date.
We will review feasible series, sample requirements and outstanding specifications before confirming quotation and supply conditions.
